O Dear Me!
It's been a lot of the same over here - painting, drawing and the such. I really have made some huge strides with my work for my show in June - I'm REALLY SAT-IS-FIED with what's finished and the outcome so far. I can't show you much right now - in effort to keep things secret, but I'm really happy. As the show gets closer, I'll be able to leak some images, but for now, bare with me!
I got a real haircut...bangs, for reals. With all the heavy steady painting and focus and blood and sweat I've been pouring out over the last few months, the side effects have been severe! I needed change, something new - so I done did it. I love it. For now. It's weird the state of mind you get into when working so hard pouring out your heart. There's lots of freedom in being an artist, working for yourself, creating art and expression - but it's intense when you get down into the work like this.
My super friend sent me a care package that had been in the works since Halloween. It was supposed to be a Halloween treat, then it turned into Halloween/Christmas treat, then Halloween/Christmas/Birthday treat. It arrived last week - and the timing couldn't have been more perfect!! When involved in so much strenuous painting, it can get lonely - and keeping yourself inspired can be a full-time job in itself! But when you have a lovely girl across the sea thinking of you like she, things get pretty wonderful. Thank you Emma!
And in my search for inspiration, I've been SHOPPING-LIKE-A-MAD-WOMAN. Thrift Stores, Flea Markets, online - everywhere!! I guess it's an outlet of sorts, right? It soothes something inside me...I wish sleep could soothe me...no sleep.
AND finally, here's a tiny sneak of ONE of the Jibibuts pieces I did for the upcoming "We Heart Wood" show at Munky King April 8th. (If you follow me on Twitter, you would've seen this long ago...just saying...follow me.) Guess what the theme to my 4 pieces is? ... hmm?
The idea was to customize any of the 12 Jibibuts we received from Noferin (their new wood toy series = Jibibuts) and we had to have at least two pieces to put in the show. I had my husband rip a few Jibibuts apart to create the four Alice In Wonderland pieces I did.
STOKED with how they came out...April 8th people.
