Doctor Whaa?

I've talked about mister Bob Self (of Baby Tattoo Books) - a lot - at Sweet by Brandi Milne...how weird and crass and bad (and good) he is....how he has such a talented head for places, things and events that make my head spin in euphoric delight - and ONCE AGAIN this man has delivered the Ultimate Psychotic in his world of Dr. Sketchy's, LA Chapter...

The Event Coordinator, Bob Self himself...

(you don't know how terrified I was to get this close to that thing in real life...to you it's only a friendly picture, to me, it was what nightmares (and night terrors) are made of)

Much sketching - much sketchiness. Bob, you sunuvah...

Also, here's a treat for all you art fans out thare...Greg Simkins has the coolest line of clothing (and shtuff) you ever did see - available now,
HERE. Lottsa precious goods for ladies and men - so you could love it, and live it, every day, like Greg does. I thought maybe you'd like that.

Love, Chicago Style

Valentine's weekend was chalk-full of delights and well needed play time. Friday we went out to catch Miss Derringer - Liz McGrath's sweet band of black-teared bandits at the Troubadour. We met up with my sweetest Chi-town beauty, Miss Hannah Aitchison and Pat, we had a ball. Ran into Mr. Gris Grimly as well - a little Friday bonus! Liz is just the cutest little thing whilest doin her thing up there!

Saturday was a marathon of shows, but first things first - stopped by Kim Saigh & Shawn Barber's tattoo shop up in LA to see Hannah bust it out. It blew my face off. The space is exquisite, not to mention all the paintings by Shawn and Kim all over the place!

This happened, I love it...

Dinner at El Cantina where autographs were signed...

Billy Shires...

Corey Helfords...

And Copro Nason...all in one night!!

What a great weekend it was, with fine visitors and plenty good stuff LA has in it's grip. So good to see Hannah and Pat, Liz & Morgan, Gris, meeting Kim & Shawn, seeing Mindy & Rick, Lola, Bruce, Kim Cheuh, Sara Folkman, Buff Monster & Stephanie, Nouar, Nathan Spoor, Chris Ryniak, Mark Murphy and the many walls of inspiring art!

...now back to work...

Good Times Roll

You know how you get busy, and you don't have time to do anything that you once had time for? Let me apologize, readers, I'm ashamed...kinda. Don't think I'm neglecting you. Well, I am, but for good reason. Working like a dog for my upcoming show takes time - it takes all my time! But it's gonna be fun once I can post pictures and show you all my efforts, I swear - so just bare with me (didispellthatright?), it'll be good...

I recently got out of the house (I got to wear clothes other than my jeans, sweatshirts, socks and slippers!) to go celebrate the birth of one of my favorite girls in the world, Jan Corey Helford. And I was thrilled to spend such a wonderful day/evening/night and morning with some of LA's best talent in female form! Girls only, we went crazy!

LA traffic, limos, streamers, balloons, massage, undies, rain, hummus, Bowie, lady tigers and PEE WEE...

The birthday girl at dinner, late, and my gift to her. A two-headed kitty sounded like something she needed, so thar she blew! Such a great time, I'm so glad to have been witness to such a night! Stories in bed and wandering the Roosevelt capped it off nicely...Here's to another year older Jan!

I turned another year older as well - old enough to know I don't want any more birthdays of my own. I'll just help other people celebrate getting older...

And you guys know how I love my books - here's another grip of goodness I received. Books are the best presents because they keep going after you've opened em. Camille's Alice is over the top, spilling out and overflowing with unbelievable freedom. So good paired with the freedom and pure expression of Camille Engman's Suitcase Series book! Yikes, I faint.

A new post once a week isn't THAT bad, is it? I'll at least aim for that. So think of me just as I'm pictured here, working, making a huge mess, struggling, thinking, sketching, painting and going nuts! Til next time, I hope you are well!
