Sea No Evil Art Show Benefit

Sea No Evil Art Show Benefit '12 is finally upon us! I will be among the artists exhibiting this coming Saturday at the Riverside Municipal Auditorium. Each donated art piece will be up for auction for one night only to raise money for Sea Shepherd Conservation Society! (For auction information, go to Sea No Evil) This is always a VERY BIG event - doors open at 6 pm, hope to see some of your faces there!!
Above is my piece for the show titled Her Happy Heart, graphite and water color on paper. This is my second year being invited to participate in the event and I couldn't be happier! To be afforded the chance to support the selflessness of the men and women that make up Sea Shepherd is an honor.

Celebrating our 6th Year, Sea No Evil will come back to the Riverside Municipal Auditorium for one night only on Saturday June 30th, 2012. Featuring Captain Paul Watson and Captain Peter Hammarstedt and the crew featured on the popular Animal Planet series, “Whale Wars”. Sea No Evil, an art show benefit to raise awareness of the oceanic conservation needed through out the world, for the sole benefit of Sea Shepherd Conservation Society to continue their aggressive campaigns to end the illegal whaling in Antarctica, the bloody seal hunt in Canada, dolphin slaughter in Japan and illegal shark finning in the Galapagos. What started as a misguided whale watching excursion, has become a powerful vein of support to create change and awareness touching the entire world. By bringing together like minded artists and art enthusiasts, we hope to give each observer the opportunity to be apart of a something bigger then one. The action of many magnifies the voice of one. Building upon the success of first five art shows which raised over $300,000 combined, this year we have confirmed over 100 artists donating art pieces to be auctioned the night of Saturday, June 30th at the Riverside Municipal Auditorium.

Darker Still

I'm about to start working on a painting for my show that has me troubled. I've only sketched out small thumbnails for it, but I can see it in my head. The trouble is, it's very dark. It's very gloomy, and very straight forward. There's nowhere for me to hide in this one, and I hope I'm okay with that as it progresses. It's hard to find words to describe what's in my mind for a painting, and at the same time that difficulty aids me in my shyness. I just step back and say nothing at all instead of fumbling around for words and hoping to make sense and connections that way. I'm better at drawing pictures. P.S. what's with the new blogger layout? It's messing with my symmetry.

More, More, More, And Then Some

Things are happening here. A lot of painting happening, which is whats supposed to be happening, but there are other things as well that are beyond my control. Those things are finding their way into my work as they will, but I've also noticed that those other things have been keeping my painting mind (which at this point in readying for a solo show is usually bonkersbonkersbonkers!) pretty relaxed and capable of finding the finishing line a lot more non-threatening than usual. Which is good. This moon was finished, and then edited out of the painting. I will find a way to use this moon again, in the right painting though. I love a good moon. (the guy in the sky, not a naked butt) Happy Saturday sillies.

Green Blood

I can FINALLY share some new news with you after having to keep secrets (I still have quite a few secrets left...) for sooo long!! This weekend theres some excitement at the Dorothy Circus Gallery in Rome Italy, as they open their doors to 'stop the loss of nature's blood' in the Green Blood charity exhibition. Curated by the lovely and super talented Tara McPherson, the show runs from June 14th to July 20th. My piece is titled Things The Daisy Tells (graphite on paper). It was a nice break from painting (I've been painting since July for my upcoming solo exhibition August 11th), and I'm stoked to be part of an amazing line up for such a great cause. So. If you are in the neighborhood, stop on by!!!
